Be a Good Neighbour

What is Be a Good Neighbour?

Be A Good Neighbour is based on the principle of the well know story of the Good Samaritan where a man looks after another man very different to him on the side of the road, teaching us that we are to show compassion and love for those we encounter in our everyday activities. We are to love others regardless of their age, race, or social status, the criteria for love is that they are in need. If they have need and we can help, then we are to give generously and freely, without expectation of return.
Be a Good Neighbour is about helping each other to help each other.

Be a Good Neighbour is a support service to adults, teenagers and children. 'Having seen long lasting change brought about in the lives of those Sarah has helped and supported for the last 20 plus years, as a social worker, charity leader, mentor, coach and through kindness and a listening ear, Sarah is supporting those in need of help in the local community and beyond. With confidence, professionalism and kindness, Sarah will #beagoodneighbour and help people help themselves'.

We will also provide help and support to your group, company and organisation to work for the good of the people in your community. We will give you advice and help with planning and enable you as churches, charities, organisations and companies to learn and see the needs of the community. We will help you implement a plan to bring about long-lasting change for the future.

David Lynch Fresh Hope Director says this: "Sarah joined the Fresh Hope team, to increase the activity happening in the School House Café (SHC), with a view to this feeding into increased revenue leading to a stable financial platform for the SHC going forward.  It quickly emerged that to have a chance for the increased activity to feed into revenue, both the quality of the service provided and the cost of providing this service needed significant improvement.  Over the past 18 months, Sarah's contribution has been invaluable and we are now seeing:
  • more people and groups using the SHC
  • a huge increase in the perceived value of the SHC to the community
  • the quality of our offering, both product and service being far higher
  • huge losses in 2023 being turned into a potential surplus in 2025 from SHC activities.
To achieve all this Sarah has had to be very creative and:
  • experiment with various new activities
  • develop new relationships with various organisations in our community
  • help to create more sustainable structures"
